New Angel Productions teams with Brooklyn-based electro-rock duo and trusted collaborators Overcoats to create the visuals for their hauntingly relevant rendition of Radiohead’s OK Computer ballad, ‘No Surprises’
Premiering first for MTV News, Paper Magazine and Indie88, the project reimagines its source material, more than 20 years later, as a rhythmic mosaic of faces encased within the glass confines of their screens.
The piece asks us to consider the fragility of our collective psyche at this pivotal social inflection point; the isolation with which we grapple daily, and the trauma that has befallen us. It is also a quiet reminder that this government - the Trump Administration - will no longer speak for us.
‘No Surprises’ marks the second collaboration between Overcoats and New Angel Productions, following their 2019 partnership on New Angel’s award-winning short film, A SHORE, for which Overcoats wrote and performed the propulsive original single, 'Tide.’
The collective has since honed their creative practice, fusing sound with imagery, often drawing from the subjective lens through which their audience experiences the work.
